Surrender

After many months of struggling with getting and staying clean I had a moment of clarity when I heard an old man share at a meeting, “You just have to get it through your head that you are done.  That part of your life is over and it will be much easier once you surrender.”  It took me more than a few times of going back and forth; of fighting the good and bad to fully surrender. But once I surrendered completely, my whole life changed for the better.  By letting go of my past without any reservations I completely changed as a person and had a whole new attitude and purpose in my life.  I am now the woman I always knew I could be, and know that if I continue my spiritual journey through life as a sober, healthy, individual my life will only improve, and get better.  This doesn’t mean that there won’t be hardships along the way, but I know in my heart that if I continue on this path, nothing will ever be as bad as it was in active addiction.
